I’ve never really wanted a Rolls, I’ve never craved caviar
I’ve never been to Bloomingdales or ventured very far

I’ve never roamed the city streets or wandered the countryside
never sailed on any seas or rode on a coaster ride

I do however know the joy in seeing your first born child
take that first step on his own and smiling that first smile

I could tell you all about the pain of losing someone dear
a good friend, a pet, a spouse or perhaps a parent that’s no longer near

I wasn’t raised as royalty, though very far from poor
I’ve seen both sides and this I know, I’ve yet to see much more.
